Despite reading pretty bad reviews online of the hotel we know that reviews can be misleading so we booked anyway. The hotel offered availability for the dates we required and excellent value for money in comparison to other properties nearby. We were pleasantly surprised, despite the hotel being slightly dated, everywhere was clean and tidy with our room being comfortable, bathroom clean and shower and bath both good with plenty of hot water and fresh towels of good size. Hairdryer supplied in room with tea/coffee making facilities. Staff friendly and helpful. We didnt eat or drink in the hotel as we had prior arrangements so cannot rate either of those. Location was perfectly suited to us and peaceful for a good nights sleep. We stayed 3 nights.

Beautiful countryside location, the interior is very Scottish with older furniture. The bed could do with being a bit more comfortable, the mattress is on the harder side. Supply you with tea/coffee facility in room for free. Beautiful grounds, horses in the field next to the hotel. The doors in the staircases bang quite loud, maybe hinges should be changed to make it less noisy for guests sleeping in rooms adjacent to the staircase. Helpful and friendly staff. Need to be a driver as hotel quite rural and tucked away in a country road.

Very relaxed and although a budget hotel it has some very fine features - a beautiful old house and lovely grounds. Enjoyed the comeraderie and easy atmosphere. It was warm, clean and friendly. Loved the bar lounge where Elvis made a phone his call from when his flight stopped in Prestwick and his way back from serving in Germany a piece of Elvis history there - great to see the photo! Prices were very reasonable and they had entertainment in the evenings thrown in. Quirky - indeed - but enjoyable experience. We'll be back!

Lovely breakfast need to.be in for 9am or the TV goes off as does the breakfast it's aimed at coach parties mainly in and out attitude be on your way. Having said that it was good. We were the only ones in at 8.45am the staff were all eating their breakfast in the restaurant we felt like intruders to their space staring at us. It was weird and in all my years I've never seen staff eating in restaurant hours when there are still guests.

For what you pay can’t beat it. The grounds and location are stunning. Hotel is outdated but is a place with character. Sheets weren’t the cleanest and had holes in and only one pillow for each of us. But apart from that the stay was cheap and cheerful and will be staying again in the future. Shout out to the guy in reception when we checked in was a friendly guy and made it quick and easy.
